The despatch of further troops to Tients in or
Chin-wang-tao is not at present considered desirable.
The reinforcements sent by other foreign Powers should
under present circumstances give the necessary added
security.
As however the climate is unhealthy and Shanghai
1 congested you are authorised to send at once to
V ǝi-hai-wei for a change of air a fort her battalion
relieving it monthly at your discretion.
The battalion selected by you should not form
part of the Indian Contingent.
